Authored (with a team of nurses and other experts) and carried the Kansas State Board of Nursing Reform bill, addressing harsh disciplinary actions for minor re-licensure errors and empowering experienced nurses to return to the healthcare work force
Served on House Water Committee, promoting research and development of technology and conservation programs to ensure adequate quality and quantity water for personal use, agriculture, and industry
Carried the Kansas Water Reuse bill, moving Kansas forward with exploration of water reuse in Wichita, Derby, and other municipalities
About Sandy
Sandy’s only child was born with a severe facial deformity and faced serious health challenges that required four dozen surgeries before she graduated from high school. Losing her husband when her daughter was eight added to Sandy’s financial burden and the stress of raising her child as a single mother.
This life experience gave Sandy a unique ability to persevere under pressure — and stay focused on solutions — which she also used in her decades working as a caring nurse. Sandy understands real-world hardships, and she’s committed to improving life’s challenges.
Sandy has lived in the same home for more than 30 years. She has a deep understanding of our community’s needs, and her record of service shows that she puts people before politics!
